Wondering how to introduce students to flexible seating? This editable "passport" has students traveling around the room, testing different spots in your classroom and reflecting on each one. This helps each child determine a smart spot that works for them.
Reflection pages for the following seating options:
- floor seating
- standing desk
- yoga mats
- stability balls
- wobble stools
- pack n' play
- lap desks
- lounge chairs
- traditional desk
- scoop rockers
- crate seats
- blank template to create your own flexible seating pages
How to use this booklet:
The students' task is to try and read a book at each of the spots for two minutes. After the two minutes are up, students reflect on how their minds and bodies felt, whether or not they were able to read their book, and if they sat in the seat safely. If they are comfortable and able to focus on their reading, then it is a smart spot for them! This booklet helps them jot down their reflection notes as they test out each spot.
How to customize this booklet:
Each of the pages I've created are saved as photos, so the fonts will not change once you download. Simply delete pages you don't need, and drag and drop pages in the order that you'd like them printed. I have also included a slide with blank headings, so you can type in your own flexible seating options. Included in this download is the font I use for the headings. This is a zipped PowerPoint file, so please make sure you have this program.
