Flexible Thinking - Social Skills Story and Activities - K-2nd Grade

Flexible thinking is a critical life skill. This skill often needs to be explicitly taught to children with social learning challenges such as; ASD, ADHD, and Developmental Delay. This Social Skills Story & Activity is intended to help those who have difficulty being Flexible and Thinking Flexibly.

The story helps children who get stuck in their way of thinking {Rigid Thinking} and have difficulty understanding why they should consider other options or opinions to be Flexible Thinkers.

Stories are a great way to teach children struggling to learn a specific social skill. Social stories work by breaking down information into small, manageable parts. These stories teach children what to do or not do in a specific social situation.

Read frequently and reinforce real-life examples of children (and adults) being flexible and how it made others feel.
