Puzzle (with solution and word bank) based on the novel by Barbara Kingsolver.
This is an active learning activity, which challenges students. It could be used as an in-class activity or as a homework assignment. I find that students enjoy the crossword format, and they view it as more fun than other assignment tasks/activities.
As a summary quiz, this is designed to be used after studying the novel. It is a great revision exercise. It jogs students' memories of characters and places mentioned in the novel. I've written the clues with as much detail as possible, so that students will remember key facts. There are 42 clues in the puzzle. You could redact the word bank to make the exercise more challenging.
The solution appears on the second page. Download the preview file to see the grid and the solution to the puzzle.
** Note UK spelling of words like behaviour.
