This project is intended to coordinate with a unit about Flight. Students are required to review the forces and principles of flight as their first step in this project. Then, they need to complete a written plan (materials, steps, etc.) and a blueprint of a plan they are designing. They then build the plane using reasonable materials (possibly recycled). Afterwards, students will present their projects in class.
This outline is to be printed and handed out to students and will provide them with their project explanation, checklist of terms to review, a plan to fill out while designing their planes, and a marking rubric that can be used while students present their work.
I have used this outline with my Science classes numerous times and have been consistently impressed with their engagement and creativity.
