► Overview ◄
Flip-Flap books are designed to engage students in a project that incorporates a variety of skills.

Look inside the preview above to see examples of some completed Flip-Flaps.

• The finished Flip-Flap book is the Difference Maker's profile and suit coat that open up to the student's report.
• The Flip-Flap project can be differentiated for any grade and any learner--special needs, general education, and gifted.

How to start ►
• Copy a Flip-Flap booklet for each student.
• Have the students select an Inventor. (Maybe the order of selection is tied to a reward for something else.)
• Each student can add color and design for the head, arms, and clothing.
• Each Flip-Flap person's torso opens with lined paper for students to write a report or poem about person.

The Student's research & report ►
• Provide close reads, have students research, or select library books about each Flip-Flap person individualized to each student's reading level.
• Students can come up with a main idea, theme, detail, contributions to history, etc. to include in the report.
• Kindergartners can listen & then write a shared research report using their own inventive spelling.
• Other options include having students develop a poem or acrostic to represent the person.

The finished product ►
• Student's can share reports orally.
• Flip-Flaps can be hung on a clothesline in or outside the class.

Games ►
Be inventive and engage your students with Flip-Flap games & other activities.
♥ Randomly select 4 students to stand in front of the room and hold up their Inventors. Have the other student's identify the person and provide information about them.
♥ After the oral reports, have an Inventor History Bee that only includes information from the students' reports.
♥ History Bingo. Have the student's cut-out the collage profiles to use as Bingo game pieces. Call out a Bingo number and then read an Inventor fact. The student then use the profiles to fill the Bingo squares.
♥ Their are unlimited ways to use Flip-Flaps to engage your students.
