Students' minds are often on summer anyway, so why not go with the "summer state of mind" while practicing changing fragments into sentences with this FREEBIE?
Students first identify 15 groups of words as sentences or fragments. Then they must change the fragments into complete sentences in order to write a "summer story."
It's easy to make this activity a bit more difficult as needed to meet your students' level by adding some extra requirements. You can incorporate whatever else you might be studying as students write their sentences.
-Make a certain number of sentences into compound sentences
-Underline all of the nouns, verbs, adjectives, etc. in your sentences
-Circle the subject and predicate in each sentence
-Include a certain number of vocabulary or spelling words in each sentences
The possibilities are endless!
Answer keys with sample answers are provided for your convenience. Please view the thumbnails to see some page views.
Enjoy! Happy summer!
