This project has students pretend to be an architect and design a home for a potential client. Students are given criteria but they must design the home based on current home sales and square footage in their area. Students work with real data from Zillow to determine the price point to sell the home. They will calculate the area of the floor plan and determine the number of rooms and size based on their clients needs. Students also connect concepts of ratio based on their home design. They are given a budget to decorate the home and must calculate the cost. As a culminating project students will create a flyer for a real estate brochure. This is a true project based activity that includes a lesson plan for teacher use and PPT for presentation.
