Product Description
This assessment asks students to read expository and non-fiction articles from Flipboard's app and respond to their choice articles through a variety of prompts intended to measure their reading skills, understanding of content, and ability to look at a text critically and tease out the hidden implications contained within. The assignment is currently set up for eight weeks of independent reading; one article per week, however it can be modified to suit your course very easily.

You can pre-select the articles you wish students to choose from by making your own Flipboard magazine and 'flipping' the articles into it, or you can have students make their own class magazine that they all contribute to, and then they can read one another's article 'flips'.

The main goal of this assignment is to give students opportunities to engage in higher level non-fiction reading, even within the context of an English course.
