Practice Phonemic Awareness with this colorful Build a Flower Word Game!
: Print, laminate and cut all cards and pieces to the center. Picture stem and center cards just get cut in half, petal letter cards need to be cut and laminated individually. Note:
I would have parents who want to help out in the classroom cut out the game pieces. Black and white sheets are included in this resource that can be just copied on copy paper.
Resource Includes the Following
All 5 short vowel sounds are included in resource (8 pictures of each vowel), total of 40 game cards. You can choose to do all the cards or take out the short vowel sounds you are working on at the time. Also included is a Flower CVC Build a Word worksheet, 4 black and white game card flowers; 5 sheets of petals with letters and 2 sheets of petals without letters. Direction card is located on one of the petal game pieces card.
After game cards are cut apart and petals are mixed up, children take a picture stem & center card and build the word with the letter sound petals to make the word. Ex: picture card cat needs the, petals c – a - t, to build the word correctly. Children place petals on stem card to make a whole flower.
Included in the resource are black and white sheets of the game cards, petals with and without letters and a Flower CVC Build a Word worksheet. You can copy these sheets on copy paper and have students build their own words using the letter petals or write letters on petals to make their own words. The worksheet can be a record of what words students have built.
Kids have fun learning while building words & flowers!
