A Subtraction Activity
This is a subtraction activity to use in math stations or guided math group. It is a great way to help children learn math facts and to use different strategies to solve math facts. It includes 59 cards with the subtraction facts through 10, a recording sheet, and a 0 – 10 number line.
Children will solve the problem and clip a clothes pin or large paper clip on the answer. They will record 6 of their problems on the recording sheet. If time allows, they can then swap cards with another child. If children need support in solving the problems, they can use manipulatives, draw illustrations, or use the included number line.
I like this activity because the children can do it independently while I work with another group. They place them in a basket and bring them to me to check so I don’t have to leave my group.
