Match the flowers to the vase! Practicing rhymes is fun with this hands-on rhyming activity with a flowers theme (also great for a Mother’s Day theme).   This simple rhyming game is perfect for ELA or literacy centers in preschool, prek, kindergarten, SPED, and RTI.

20 vase mats: Each mat features an image.  The images are mostly short words with blends and are fairly easy to rhyme.  4 mats are provided for each middle vowel.  Only short vowels are used.
20 flower cards:Each flower card features an image that rhymes with only one mat.

How to play:
This activity is best suited for children who have already been introduced to the concept of rhyming and can identify rhymes in songs and stories. This rhyming printable is great as an individual activity or a group activity. To play:

1. Line up the mats and name the picture.
2. Place the individual flower cards in a stack.
3. Pick up a flower card and name the picture.
4. Look for the rhyming mat and place the flower card on it.
IMPORTANT: Be sure to name the images with your students to ensure they have the vocabulary to do this activity. They may not recognize the image if you don’t name it.
