This 26-page product consists of an 18-page student study guide for Flowers for Algernon. The packet includes mini lessons for poetry, key thematic terms, journal assignment with prompts, study questions, an article on intelligence, novel notes breakdown for class discussions, thematic statements to discuss as a class, space for notes on the writer's style, mini lesson worksheets on commas and semicolons, and 3 different essay topics. The remaining pages of the packet include notes from me on structuring lessons and the unit, as well as my novel notes for the breakdown of the book. My novel notes are designed to give the teacher larger topics to discuss, to keep from reviewing the plot of the story. The packet is not designed to tell the teacher how to teach grammar, poetry, or writer's style. It is designed to offer the teacher who buys this the main concepts to teach. As teaching is an art, it is important to note that my notes are only useful for outlining concepts, not how to teach them. The advantage is that the book has been combed through several times for you already. Consider organizing the class to focus more on the topics that affect all of us and our human condition. Thanks for your interest!
