*Flowers for Algernon short story with questions - I take this from the literature books we use at our school.
This unit includes a prezi. Prezi is similar to a power point presentation, but better in so many ways. This prezi introduces students to the short story "Flowers for Algernon" along with learning disabilities, animal and human testing, and intellectual testing.
I have used this lesson with my 8th grade students, both mild/moderate sped. and general education students. The visuals, clips and songs make this more accessible for a variety of learners, hitting many modalities. My students found this engaging and were able to have thoughtful discussions on topics presented. I have 49 minute periods and used approximately 12 periods for this lesson, even though I had originally planned for 9-11. The length depends on discussions and how much you have your students work together. This lesson would also be appropriate for 7-9th grade students.
I hope this unit engages your students as it did mine!
**This is a zip file, so you will need to know how to unzip. I have a free download on how to do this and tpt also provides instructions on how to unzip. If you are using a PC, getting the prezi downloaded may take several minutes, so please be patient. If you are on a mac it is almost instantaneous.
