This is a PowerPoint Game called Beat the Clock. Students race to read their slide before the slide changes to the next slide. This practices fluency and sight word/phrase reading.
Instructions for changing the slide speed is included. I use this as a game in my room for fluency practice. Students form two lines. The two students at the front of the line start the game. The person that gets the farthest on the slide before it changes gets to sit on rug, other student has to go to back of line. Play continues until everyone has had a chance to play (might have to start slide over). Next, I have all the winners on the rug go head to head and the rest of the students sit down. We keep playing until there is only one winner.
Sometimes, we practice as a whole class giving all studnets a chance to read each slide.
This is great for students that need sight word work.
I use this product during RTI time, whole group, and small group time.
