Fluency Fun - A Fluency Game for Young Students who Stutter

This game is ideal for young students who stutter. It provides opportunities for students to practice evaluating and monitoring the rate and smoothness of speech. There are 48 cards with one of four different possibilities listed: say it smooth, say it bumpy, say it fast, and say it slow. There are little icons (great for the non-reader or those needing visual cues) next to the written possibility.

The student is first asked to evaluate the smoothness/rate of someone else's speech and once that is mastered they can practice manipulating the rate and smoothness of their own speech.

Single pictures are on each card, but you can easily change the rules of the game prior to starting. For example, you could tell the students to use each word in a sentence or carrier phrase, to ask someone a question using the word on their card, or to make up a story about the word pictured on the card. Once the game board has been utilized, there are two blackline worksheets that can be used to switch things up. They are a great way to keep little hands busy while working on their speech!
