One of the more challenging habits for an
emergent reader to learn is how to track what they are reading. Over the eight years I spent teaching kindergarten and 1st grade, I created a ‘no fuss fluency folder’ to teach my students how to track words as they read. This strategy has been most beneficial to students who have been identified by our Response to Intervention (RTI) team.
