This is a Carpet Bag Game
Place the popcorn alphabet cards in a small plastic popcorn container (look at Target or the Dollar Tree).
Pass out the popcorn pictures to the learners.
Teacher says: “Who has the /b/?”
Learner says: “ I have the butterfly”
Continue until all the cards have been gathered.
This game is also adaptable for centers. I added popcorn pops. Place all the cards face down on the table. With a partner the learners try to match the popcorn alphabet with the popcorn pictures. If they turn over a popcorn pop, they have to return all their cards. The learner with the most cards at the end of the game wins.
Demonstrate basic knowledge of letter-sound correspondences by producing the primary or most frequent sound for each consonant.
