With this set you can have your students practice fluency. There are two separate games/activities you can play with your students during reading group time. The first is what I like to call the ABC game. In this game you give students one of the cards with the letters and punctuation on it. The students have to read the cards and use the correct punctuation. Often times students spend a lot of time decoding new words that they often don’t pay attention to the punctuation. This allows students to focus on punctuation and how they should be reading it in stories. I can always refer back to this game if they forget when they are reading. The second part is emotion cards and simple sentences. With this the students pick an emotion card and sentence at random. They then have to read the sentence using the emotion that they chose. You can always make these a center after they have been taught. Students can read the sentence and the other student has to guess their emotion.
