With this set you can have your students practice fluency. This is what I like to call the ABC game. In this game you give students one of the cards with the letters and punctuation on it. The students have to read the cards and use the correct punctuation. Often times students spend a lot of time decoding new words that they often don’t pay attention to the punctuation. This allows students to focus on punctuation and how they should be reading it in stories. I can always refer back to this game if they forget when they are reading. I like to print out two different pages on colored paper (total of 4 different colors). Put all the cards on a ring and allow students to pick a color for a quick fluency practice during reading group time. You can always make these a center after they have been taught. Students can read the letters and have another student guess the punctuation!
