Improve your students’ reading fluency with these emergent reading sentence strips. Each sentence strip contains basic sight words, a CVC word, and a picture clue. Tracking dots are included beneath each word. These cards are perfect for guided reading groups, small group intervention, literacy centers, and even parent volunteers!
A total of 60 sentence strips are included. You will receive 6 strips for each of the following sentence starters:
I see a / I am a / I like my / I like to / It is / I have the / We see the / She has a / We can / You have a
*Print, cut, and laminate the cards for durability. You could also choose to laminate the entire sheet rather than cut the strips apart, and place the pages in sheet protectors in a binder.
*Cards can be placed in a basket, tub, or pocket chart for student use at a literacy center. You can choose to focus on one set of sentence frames at a time, or mix up the frames based on your own preference/needs of students. You may want to add some fun pointer fingers for students to use while reading.
*You can also use these frames as a reading warm-up during your guided reading groups, or have a parent volunteer work with students individually using these cards.
*Students should use the tracking dots to point to each word as they read the sentence on the card. This activity can be completed independently or with a partner.
*For an additional challenge, cut the sentences apart and have students re-assemble before reading!
