Appropriate phrasing is such an important aspect of reading fluency. Readers need to be able to group words into phrases to make their reading sound more smoothly and like a their normal speech pattern. These fluency sentences are perfect for practicing text phrasing while reading.
What does this product include?
The packet includes 20 pages of Fluency Sentences. Each page contains 4 sentences (written three times) with picture clues. Students will read each word in the sentence first. Then, they will blend the sentence into text phrases. Finally, the student will read all the way through the sentence in a normal speech pattern.
Who is this product geared towards?
This particular packet is geared towards 1st grade, but can be used with high Kindergarten or lower 2nd grade students.
How can I use this product in my classroom?
These fluency sentences are perfect to use as a warm-up during small group reading instruction. They would also work well during independent reading practice or in a fluency folder.
