Do your students need extra practice reading fluently and with expression? Many students do, and this activity will help with both!

This packet contains 29 fluency strips that each contain several sentences. I place the strips in a bag and have students draw one. Students then practice reading the strip several times both independently and with a partner before reading it in front of the class to practice fluency and expression. For a fun twist, you could also have students pretend they are acting out the fluency cards. At the end, pick a few students who read fluently and with expression to receive an "award." This award could be given to students every time (laminate and let them keep it for a designated time) or over a period of time.

These strips could be used in a multitude of ways including centers. Additionally, they can be used over and over again, which will give students a lot of practice with fluency and expression!

This product would best be used with Second Grade, Third Grade, and end-of-year or advanced First Graders.

This product has been updated to include this activity in the following versions: print and digital - Seesaw, Google Slides, and PowerPoint.
