I use this flipchart when teaching students about reading with inflection and how punctuation can give us cues about how to read words. I intro with the paragraph about myself and my dog by saying, "I am about to be a great reader. Listen to me read this story I wrote." I then read the passage flatly, with no expression, and as monotone as possible. I ask the students how I was a bad reader even though I knew all the words. I then read the book "Wolf!" which addresses how good readers read with inflection. I finish by calling their attention to the anchor chart featured in this Flipchart and having them practice saying words with inflection.
