Pages 6-10: Spelling Word and Challenge Word Cards
Pages 11-13: Word Wise (I print the word cards out and laminate them). Students write twelve words from the word cards in the four column chart. Pick three from each of the following suffixes: -er, -or, -ess, and –ist. Write two sentences using two of the words from each of the suffixes.
Pages 14-16: Word Work: (I print the word cards out and laminate them). Students pick twelve word card words and sort them into the correct suffix group. List other words with the suffixes to complete the table.
Pages 17-18: Let’s Write! (I hang up the autobiography poster to help students remember what an autobiography is). Students write an autobiography. Use a separate paragraph for each event you talk about.
Pages 19-22: Words To Know: (I print the word cards out and laminate them). Students choose four word card words. Look up the different meanings. Write two sentences for each word to show the different meanings.
Page 23: Read For Meaning: Read a Leveled Reader. Write two sentences telling two facts from the text and two sentences giving two opinions.
Page 24: I included a portion of Fly, Eagle, Fly!: An African Tale for students to read for fluency.
