Fly Swat is a phonics game to practice reading and saying "y" as "I" words.
I created this game for my first-grade students to play. The students partner into groups of two. Each player gets a blue or red fly swatter; use the reproducible fly swatters in this package if you don’t have real fly swatters. The players take turns turning over a fly card from the pile. The first player who swats the card and correctly says the word gets to keep the card. The winner is the player with the most cards at the end of game play.
Mount the cards to and around an oversized fly swatter for an instant “y” as “I” word wall.
Print the cards and fly swatters on cardstock.
