Balsa Foam is a brand of carving foam material sold by many art supplies distributors. It can be carved easily with just about any kind of tool. But it's difficult to find informative directions on how to approach carving it. This two-page handout is a succession of photos to assist students in the basics of rendering form in this material. A third bonus page explains how to get an image on the surface in the first place.
