As with any reading activity you want your students to interact with the reading. Students should complete any two FOCUS words from a possible list of 7. They record these words on the diagonal lines.

You can even reduce the size of the page and attach it to the students' inner cover of small journals or composition books. This will make for easy reference.
This resource is particularly useful for students' literature circles and the discussions that occur. Encourage students to begin their discussions with their respective lit circle "focus word". This will anchor the discussion and act as a springboard for all group members.
