Welcome to "The Core of Coaching!" One of the main questions I get from teachers of reading is how to increase fluency. This is not surprising considering the number of assessments our students take involving this valuable skill. As a coach, however, I feel it is important to understand not only what you are teaching, but WHY the way you teach it matters.

I have enjoyed learning how the brain develops and use this to my advantage when creating any instructional tool. Know that anytime you visit my store you will not only find valuable tools for yourself or your students, but you can be assured every item was created to maximize learning through the understanding of the brain. This is true developmentally, culturally, behaviorally, and medically.

Understanding the uniqueness of each child allows your teaching to be more effective. Therefore, in every document you will find an explanation of how to think about the skill or brain, and some quick tips for easy reference. I hope they will help shape your lens when teaching and allow you you to reach children in ways you may not have known before.

In this document you will find:

1. My quick explaination as a coach as to why fluency is important, but also how it differs from rate.

2. Quick tips on how to work on fluency at different levels.

3.A reproducible colored bookmark with various strategies.

Thank you for looking and please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you,
Stacey Boehm
