This is a lesson over identifying terms of both arithmetic and geometric sequences using recursive processes. Includes answer keys!

First is a worksheet for students to practice finding patterns in sequences and extending the pattern to find the next three terms.

Then there is a foldable with definitions of arithmetic and geometric sequences on the outside. On the inside students are introduced to the recursive formulas and use a table to extend the patterns to find the first five terms.

Finally there is a half sheet of four practice questions. I create interactive notebooks in my classroom with my students, so the foldable will go on the right side, and the practice questions will go on the left.

This correlates to the new Texas TEK: A.12(C): identify terms of arithmetic and geometric sequences using recursive processes.
