These foldable notes are perfect for an interactive notebook. Students will discover and learn the patterns of side lengths for 45-45-90 triangles and 30-60-90 triangles.
Students will need to understand the characteristics of isosceles and equilateral triangles. In order to be successful, they will also need a proficiency in the Pythagorean Theorem and simplifying radical expressions. I often use a Pythagorean Theorem problem as the Warm Up that day to practice using the theorem and simplifying radical expressions prior to the new lesson.
During the notes, students will discover the pattern of the 45-45-90 triangle using the properties of an isosceles triangle and the Pythagorean theorem. There is one guided example and 2 other examples for the students to work through before they discover the pattern. Students will discover the pattern of the 30-60-90 triangle by dissecting an equilateral triangle to create a 30-60-90 triangle. There is one guided example and 2 other examples to help the students discover the pattern.
