Here I am sharing a Foley Sound Activity Pack that works well for any film or television unit. Teaching children about sound is very important especially getting them to identify the sound an object can make expanding their creative and imaginative capacity.
This activity can be used for any learners aged 11 - 19 years old. The learners I used it on are 16+ and found it enjoyable and gave them an introduction to foley sound.
Step 1: Show learners the War Horse clip linked in the pack.
Step 2: Use the television cards with screen shots of the clip to break down the scene into described sound effects.
Step 3: Get the class to clip into 2 or 3 groups (depending on the size of your class)
Step 4: Introduce the object cards. After watching the clip and looking at the scene broken down the teams need to decide together which object would be best to use to re-create the original.
Step 5: Get the teams to nominate a member of their team to explain their choices to re-enforce democracy in the classroom.
Thank you. I hope this pack helps your introduction to foley sound. If there are any problems or improvements you would like to feedback about this resource then please get in contact.
