Teaching students to follow directions is TOUGH! I use this activity as a warm up before we start our reading group as a fun way to practice vital listening and following direction skills. The goal of this activity it to help build students listening skills and improve listening comprehension. The pack includes 24 Build A Robot task cards and I do one task card a day so this pack lasts a month. It all includes that robot pieces to cut out, a Robot Parts poster, and the mat for students to build on.
To complete the activity lay out the Build a Robot mat, the Robot Parts poster and the robot pieces. Then read the card slowly to your students. Students listen to the instructions, find the piece the task card listed and place it on the correct spot on the mat. Once finished there robot should match the one described on the task card. This is a easy, low prep activity that lasts me all month and my students really enjoyed!
