This packet consists of 4 fun following direction worksheets, which would be great for the beginning of the school year. There are two summer themed pictures, a beach picture and a palm tree picture. The other two pictures have to do with the beginning of the school year. Depending on your students’ abilities, they may need assistance reading the directions or writing their answers. If you work with your students and read the directions aloud step by step, then these can be done with first graders, especially the first three activities. Depending on their ability, the first graders may find the final activity a bit challenging even with you reading the directions step by step. Some first graders may be able to complete some, if not all, of the activities independently. In the first activity, students are given a beach picture as well as several steps on how to decorate that picture. The directions may ask them to add to the picture or color something in the picture. For only one step, the students will also need to know the difference between the right and left of the paper. For example, the direction may say draw a person to the right of a sandcastle. The color words are printed in its corresponding color to assist the students. For the second activity, the students are given a picture with a palm tree. Like the first activity, students are given steps that they need to follow in order to decorate the picture correctly. The color words are printed in its corresponding color to assist the students. The third activity is a picture of a school. The students are given the directions to decorate this picture. Besides coloring, this activity also has students practice writing the name of their school. They are also going to draw a picture of themselves, which will make it more of their own. Similar to the first activity, for only one step, the students will also need to know the difference between the right and left of the paper. The final activity welcomes the students back to school. This activity is a bit more difficult. The students need to read the directions. Some of the directions include questions that the students need to write answers to before coloring the picture according to the direction. For this last activity, students will need to know their vowels and the alphabet. Like the other activities, the color words are printed in its corresponding color to assist the students. Besides coloring, the students will be asked to write their name, as well add some drawing to the picture.
