This packet contains two tests that assess a student’s ability to follow oral directions. A pre-test, post-test, answer keys and score recording sheet are included. These assessments are designed to be given to a large or small group but can also be given individually.
As a special education teacher working with students with intellectual disabilities it has been very difficult for me to find the materials I needed to assess my student’s life skills in a large classroom. Following directions is an important skill that can be used in any classroom/any subject. You can use the results in the PLOP sections for general academic skills, CBA results, developmental/functional needs, relevant transition information, even communication needs. You can also use this information to inform your instruction and write IEP goals. For example: Joshua will be able to follow a four step oral direction, at least 3 out of 4 times, in a variety of in school and community activities to prepare for post-secondary employment.
