I love to finish my typography unit with the Font Fashion Show. By this point, we have already talked about how fonts have parts (like arms, feet, shoulders, etc). But I want them to know that fonts also help provide different moods and feelings. They have histories. They are perfectly designed. They tell stories in and of themselves. In this project, students research a font of their choice, craft a short descriptive paragraph (that will be read aloud during the fashion show), and then dress in a way that showcases the personality of the font. This includes student instructions, a preparation worksheet, a rubric, inspiration/examples, and teacher notes with suggested formative assessment.
