Get middle school kids thinking!
This is a great worksheet activity to show students that there are varied ways that an ecosystem can be affected by the removal of one of its organisms. In this activity, students come up with their own food chain. They then plug their food chain into both sides of a gird. They use the grid to track what happens to every organism in their food chain if each other organism were to be removed. You may find it helpful to make an overhead of the grid and do an example of this for them before they do their own. This is very useful for student comprehension, and it has become a "go-to" activity for food chains. Supports MS-LS2-2 MS-LS2-3 MS-LS2-4
