PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

"Good manners: The noise you don't make when you're eating soup." Bennett Cerf (American publisher, one of the founders of Random House ~ 1898 - 1971)

Here are 26 fascinating facts about eating and dining out in Germany.

Should you share your table with strangers ?

Should you dig right in when served ?

Should you wait for the hostess to seat you ?

These cultural curiosities offer your students insight into the fact that there are different ways to do what we consider to be everyday and quite usual things.

All the facts are colorfully illustrated and explained in English.

I show them on my LCD projector and ask a different student to read each point out loud to promote discussion. I also use them as true/false questions on quizzes or tests or the final exam.

Included here are:
* Overhead with 26 cultural curiosities
* A quiz on these
* An answer key
* A Notebook Check Sheet - how students set up their notebooks with a 'Culture' section
and
* An abbreviated handout version of the 26 facts for absent students.

Let your students be inspired, enlightened, and have fun discussing these sometimes quite curious cultural differences. Everything is ready-to-use. (38 pages)

* OF SPECIAL NOTE *
I have created my products as Word documents because that is how I use them. They are unlocked so teachers can change vocabulary words or modify things if they wish.

If you prefer a different format for the overhead, below are some suggestions, however the pictures may have to be inserted separately.

To Make A Slide Show In ActivInspire
If you use ActivInspire, you can save the Word document as a pdf (this is easily done with the newer versions of Word), then you can simply import the pdf to ActivInspire and have a document for that format.

To Make A Slide Show In PowerPoint
If you prefer to use the PowerPoint format, you can easily convert a Word document to a PowerPoint.

This link explains it clearly: 'Creating A PowerPoint From A Word Document.'
