This is a great set to use to teach the My Plate (myplate.gov) food allowances and for students to learn about food group. My Plate replaced the old Food Pyramid plan.
The set includes:
*Notes for the teacher
*A page for each food group that shows the My Plate graphic for that group (Fruit & Vegetables are on the same graphic)
*Why are _______ good for you? for each food group (Fruits & Vegetables are on the same page). It includes some of the health benefits of eating from that food group.
*Colorful poster for each food group (all 5) with pictures of some of the food items in that group.
*Colorful poster for each food group (all 5) with 8 food examples that are labeled.
*Worksheet for each food group (all 5) for students to draw and label 4 of their favorite foods from that group.
*Worksheet to draw and label what you had for a meal and put it into the correct spot on the plate. There are 3 different versions with different meal names (supper, dinner, etc.). I like to use these for about a week in the classroom to label what they ate for lunch and then I send them home as homework for a few nights to have them draw and label what they had for dinner.
The posters can be printed and displayed. They can be printed and shown under the document camera (they're great for choral reading). They could also just stay on your computer and you could project the .pdf page right from your computer (with a computer connected to a projector).
