Practice identifying foods that belong in each food group;

- Légumes et fruits (12 fruits, 12 légumes)
- Produits céréaliers (12)
- Lait et substituts (12)
- Viandes et substituts (12)
- Sucres et matières grasses** (12)

• Use this resource to support student learning about Healthy Eating; students will learn about each food group and the types of food in each.

• Students can choose foods then colour, cut, sort and glue them onto the appropriate card. Then, they can describe how the Food Guide* can be used to make healthy choices. You can order your own copy at http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/fn-an/food-guide-aliment/index-fra.php

• An extra template is included for students to draw other choices that are not found here.

**I realize that ‘sucres et matières grasses’ is not considered a food group but I’ve included it so that students can consider how much of their diet consists of these foods and that they should only be eaten occasionally - à l’occasion.

• Display the posters to help students sort their mats. Posters make a colourful Bulletin Board display!

• Choose several foods at random and then ask students to rank them as foods they should eat more or less often. Allow students to provide reasoning for their choices.

• Also includes 'Mon assiette' for students to practice putting together a day's worth of healthy food choices*. Students can choose foods and glue them to their plate according to the daily portions for each Food Group.

• Use this resource to prompt student discussion about Healthy Bodies; food provides us with energy so our teeth, skin, bones and muscles can grow. Students can use the chart to compare how the number of servings our bodies need changes as we get older and discuss why.

• Use the food cards as flashcards too for practicing French vocabulary!

• A chart is included based on Canada's Food Guide (www.hc-sc.gc.ca) to help students find the appropriate number of servings according to their age.

******* UPDATE: ALL FOOD CARDS ARE LABELLED! *******
