Learning about food groups or problem solving through systematic trial and error? This is a great activity for students to have fun while applying their knowledge about which food groups different foods belong to! It is a puzzle game that is easy to understand but challenges their thinking. There are six different variations of the puzzle included in the package.
The Puzzle Game:
1) Each set consists of one base template and 7 plates.
2) The base template indicates where the plates need to be arranged.
3) Each plate contains six food items from different food groups located around the edges.
4) The students’ task will be to arrange the plates on the base template so that adjacent food items on different plates belong to the same food group!
This task is very easy to understand once students have a visual of the layout. However, due to the nature of the task itself, the puzzle can be quite difficult to complete successfully. You may wish to start students off with the correct plate in the center to make this task easier to complete. Once they gain more confidence, you can challenge them to complete a different set without any help at all!
