Thank you for choosing this activity!
My students LOVED this recipe. I always used it at the end of the semester as a treat but it could be used anytime. My classes were 45 minutes long and this lab ran about 35-40 minutes depending on the students.
I’ve included the recipe for the students. I’ve also included ingredients lists for the student who was responsible for collecting supplies.
My school required written work in addition to labs so I’ve included my Pre/Post lab hand out as well. Generally I had my students fill in the front of the sheet to get themselves prepared for the lab and the back was for post lab.
I used Lucky Leaf apple pie filling because it is made without preservatives. I tied this lab in with Farm to Table. Because we didn’t have a lot of time I had to use the canned product. If you have more time or want a second lab before this one, you can prepare the apple pie filling yourself.
I also did a quick demo for my students to show how to cut off the crusts and roll the bread flat. The flatter the bread, the better the roll ups will be!
