This is a semester long project meant to accompany a high school business course. I use this in my Introduction to Business class, but it could also apply to other courses. For this project I split up the students into groups, however, it can be done individually. Students come up with their own food truck concept and work throughout the semester on the project.

My aim at creating this project was to come up with a fun, relatable way for students to apply the concepts learned in class. In my experiences, my students have loved this project and have had some great ideas!

The materials in this file would take several weeks to complete. At my school class periods are 90 minutes, listed below are the estimated days or portion of a class period needed for each assignment. In this project students will apply the following concepts:

Business Plan: included are detailed instructions for how to write a business plan and a rubric for grading the plan (approximately 3-5 class days, I also have my students revise the plan after conclusion of all other elements of the project at the end of the semester, approximately another 2-3 days)
Management: included is a brief PPT explaining the 4 functions, instructions for catering an event based on the 4 functions of management, and an example (1/2 of class period)
Leadership: included is an assignment for describing the leadership style of the business (1/4 of class period)
Organizational Chart: included is a PPT showing a variety of structures and an assignment to create an organizational chart for the business (1/2 of class period)
Marketing: included is an extensive project where students will apply the functions of marketing, marketing mix with place, price, promotion, and product menu, and discuss economic utilities (approximately 5 days)
Financial Plan: included are instructions for the sections that must be included in a financial plan, students are also asked to create a purchase order and invoice for the project, but templates for this must be downloaded on your own (approximately 3 days)
Sales: included are instructions for creating a sales promotion for the food truck (approximately 1 day)
Social Media Campaign: included are instructions for creating a social media campaign for the business, disclaimer: this assignment references an article titled "Your Guide to Social Media" by Mike Nichols and Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter templates that is not included with the file, but can be downloaded with a google search (approximately 3 class periods)

After completion of the project, students will then create a business pitch to present to the class. I also usually invite 2-3 guest investors (adults from the school or community) to class to observe. The guest investors get $20,000 (pretend money) and the students each get $5,000 (pretend money) to invest in the food truck of their choosing. The group that gets the most money receives a reward such as extra credit on the project. (approximately 2 days for pitch preparation and 2 days for actual pitches)
