This handout will allow students the chance to create their own food web and identify the various feeding roles organisms fall under (i.e. types of consumers), as well as the trophic level organisms can labeled as through color-coding. Once students have finished their food web, there are a few questions for them to answer related to a set of scenarios revolving around their food web (i.e. if deer disappeared).
At the teacher's discretion, this activity can be used in class, as review or a formative assessment, or assigned as homework. I find that it is more beneficial for students to complete this handout on their own, but this decision can be changed based on your students age or ability level.
