Students explore menus of fast food restaurants in Spanish speaking countries and compare the food and drink options to those in the United States. This activity has students look at McDonald's, Taco Bell, and Telepizza (a pizza place in Spain).
The websites are entirely in Spanish and students use vocabulary studied, context clues, and pictures to aid in comprehension. The activity guides students through navigation of the sites. Students make observations of not only food but will discover how to say "tweet" in Spanish and "share" for Facebook. At the end, students complete a reflection.
I did this activity in a Level 1 classroom. Students enjoyed the activity and it lead to conversations about globalization and why menus change in each country.
