This is a recording sheet for several open-ended math problems. I teach in the South where football is HUGE and most (if not all) of my students follow college football during the season. I wanted to give my students an opportunity to figure out how a football team ended up with their final score for the game. Of course, there is the actual way that the points were scored, but I wanted them to calculate the other possibilities.
This sheet includes a table for recording the scores from 2 - 58. It can be used as an in-class or homework project as well as independent or collaborative work and can span one day or can be spread out over several days.
This is a great tool for addition/multiplication practice as well as open-ended problem solving. It is also a great way to get your students communicating about mathematics and sharing the different ways they solved the problems!
