Are you ready for some football?!? I love incorporating sports into my math lessons. Students relate to sports as part of pop culture, and love when they can go home and share their new sports knowledge with their friends and family.
These activities incorporate several mathematical concepts Students will use the possible scoring opportunities in football to create equations reaching target total scores.
For example, if one team scored 23 points, they could have reached that total score by scoring three touchdowns with an extra point and a safety. The equation would look like 7+7+7+2=23 or 7x3+2=23 or (7x3)+2=23.
