The Forces and Newton's Law of Motion Test includes 75 questions to help you accurately assess your student's understanding of net force, balanced and unbalanced forces, types of forces, and Newton's Three Laws of Motion. Since the force unit covers such a wide range of topics and concepts, I created two tests, force test part 1 and force test part 2.
For the force test, part 1, there are 35 questions that focuses on the following topics.
A. Definition and differences between balanced forces and unbalanced forces, including Newton's first law of motion.
B. Newton's second law of motion and solve for force, mass, and acceleration (F=ma).
C. Describe and explain relationship between force and acceleration and force and mass as it relates to collisions.
For the force test, part 2, there are also 40 questions that focuses on the following topics:
A. Find the net force when different types of forces (gravity, air resistance, applied force, friction, tension, spring force) are acting on an object.
B. Newton's first law of motion and how net forces affect object's motion.
B. Newton's second law and how the law can be applied to different real life examples
C. Newton's third law of motion and how action and reaction forces have the same magnitude but opposite directions.
This test has multiple choice questions along with word problems. There are free body diagrams, drawings for word problems, and data tables for students to interpret and analyze results. I felt that the force test accurately assessed my student's knowledge and I hope that it will give you a fair measurement of your student's understanding of forces.
