These foreign language learning badges and banners will allow you to provide recognition to students while keeping the focus on learning and performing in the target language.
Providing recognition to students that is linked performance is a statistically proven way to raise achievement and one of the 9 Marzano strategies.
These 20 badges align with the ACTFL progress indicators for Novice-Low and Novice-Mid language learners. They are a way to identify students who are able to meet these progress indicators in the target language:
-recite the alphabet
-introduce themselves and/or another person
-count up to 30
-count up to 100
-express dates and days
-locate target culture countries on a map
-recite a poem or song
-describe physical appearance and personality
-talk about what they like or don't like
-describe their house, room, or where they live
-giving the time it is and/or the time when something is happening
