Have you used the PALS (Performance Assessment for Language Students) rubrics created by Fairfax County Public Schools? If not, you should! They have created wonderful rubrics for WRITING and SPEAKING that can be used for ANY assessment in those two categories. You no longer have to write up rubrics for each assignment. Just give students the instructions for an assignment, project, etc. and attach the rubric! I recommend the Level 1 Speaking (and Writing) Analytic rubrics.
They can be found here: http://www.edlinesites.net/pages/Prince_William_County_PS/DPO/StudentLearningAccountability/InstructionalPgmsCurriculum/World__Foreign__Languages/PALS_Rubrics/General_Info
But...what about reading, listening, and culture?
I have created two rubrics included here:
1) Reading and Listening
They are .docx files that you can edit. Feel free to remove grading categories that don't apply to your assignment. If you want to see how to add up the points please reference the PALS website for conversions.
Personally, I use the rubrics in a standards based grading environment for middle school students and so the numbers 1-4 work for me and my school has the 4.0, 3.5, 3.0, 2.5, 2.0, and 1.0 scores in the grade book. I also use the regular point system for my HS students (8-12 school). Feel free to edit the scoring to fit your school's needs!
