This PowerPoint presentation covers the basics of America's foreign policy during the Era of Good Feelings. It begins with an examination of the Treaty of 1818 and sets the stage for John Quincy Adams as a very effective Secretary of State. It then covers the acquisition of Florida, including the actions of Andrew Jackson and the Florida Purchase Treaty. It then quickly covers the Adams-Onis Treaty and concludes with an examination of the Monroe Doctrine. This presentation is used in an AP United States history class and is based on the second half of Chapter 12 of The American Pageant.
