This is a simulation activity combining the role of the President and Cabinet during wartime with foreign policy considerations. Simulation can take several days or be shortened into one class period. Students are given an individual "role" to research and then participate in a roundtable discussion regarding the war in Afghanistan. At the end of the roundtable simulation, students are required to prepare a 1-page brief for the President's consideration in making his decision. Individual "roles" extend beyond the Cabinet to include strategic military leaders as well as international heads of state. The digital file also includes grading rubrics for the simulation and the written policy brief.
